Maureen Dorn Stack Galardi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Brien's Funeral Home on Aug. 30, 2024.
Maureen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on March 13, 1949, she was the loving daughter of the late John and Erma (Dorn) Stack, devoted mother of John "Jack" Galardi and Diane (Brion Moran) Galardi, and cherished grandmother of Wilhelmina and Catriona. Maureen was the beloved sister of Patricia (the late Robert) Hoover, Michele "Micki" (the late John) Cloonan, Mary (the late Robert) Doyle, and the late Thomas and Susan Stack. She remained close to her former husband and dear friend, Robert Galardi.
Maureen lived an incredibly rich life, which included witnessing three Super Bowl victories during her time working for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s. A fearless force of nature, she embraced skydiving in her youth and later channeled that tenacity into her work at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, where she became a passionate advocate for families in need.
Later in life, Maureen tutored public school children through the OASIS literacy program. Her frequent trips to the sunny beaches of California with her family filled her heart and created some of her happiest memories.
She will be remembered for her Irish blue eyes, fiercely kind heart, and gregarious spirit.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Peter Catholic Church of Christ Our Savior Parish at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, followed by a proper Irish wake at Max's Allegheny Tavern at 11 a.m. There, we will toast Maureen with her favorite drink-Jameson's on the rocks. Please join us to raise a glass to her!
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either the ASPCA, reflecting Maureen's deep love of animals, or to AHN Palliative and Hospice Care for the incredible care provided to her during her last days.
