I'm going to tell one of my happiest times with my sister, Maureen. I had just moved back to Michigan in 2000. As many of you know, Maureen was FAMOUS FOR HER HOME-MADE PIES. She called me up and said "why don't you come over and bake a cherry pie with me?" I said OK because I had only made one pie in my entire life, knew I would receive excellent knowledge and have some quality time with my sister since I was gone for 22 years. Maureen had a cherry tree in her back yard that I didn't know about. Upon my arrival, she says "let's start pickin'." I looked at her like she was crazy. I was thinking we were going to open cans of cherries. Outside we went and picked as many as we could and then couldn't reach the remaining. Pulled the ladder out, cut down almost the entire tree and picked the remaining from the branches on the back porch. In the house we go. Got her old-fashioned cherry picker out and started pitting. By the end, we had cherries EVERYWHERE in the kitchen. On the floor, walls, clothes, windows, our hair, feet, etc. Then she finally says "now we have enough." We died laughing as we looked at each other. The pie ended up being just shy of 3 pounds. Boy, it was awesome. I'll never forget the pie and how much fun we had together. I will miss her so much and the long phone calls we had at night. See you soon in heaven my dear sister. Kathy

My deepest sympathy to Maureen's family. Maureen and I worked together at the Bank for a couple of years. She was a kind person, considerate of other people and always had a beautiful smile. RIP my friend.

I met Maureen when our children were starting pre-school in the Utica school district. At that time she was pregnant with Jennifer. Maureen became a very close friend of mine. Maureen had a very huge heart when it came to helping others. I'll always remember the guidance she gave when I was going thru my divorce. When I had to move out of my home and I had to go to the storage unit with my movers, Maureen stayed at my house and cleaned it up so I wouldn't have to come back and have that to deal with. Through the years at times we didn't talk that much, but when we did it was just like old times. I know that she had her heart broken many, many times thru the years. I guess that's what happens to someone who has such a big heart to give to others. I will miss her terribly. I just talked to her 2 weeks ago and she told me all of the problems she was having. I told her that I wish there was something I could do for her and her response was just call me to say "hello". Rest in peace Maureen. Until we meet again.

Our deepest sympathies to the Pons family for their loss. Maureen is my daughter, Angela Pons sister in law who was a special friend and lady. We shared many holiday dinners over the years as part of this wonderful family.I enjoyed our many conversations on our decorating skills. Maureen was a special lady with incredible design talents. She will be missed by so many. RIP my friend.

Bob and I were so sorry to learn of Maureen's death. She was the same age as us and her life was way too short. Though we didn't know Maureen our sympathies are with all of you at this very difficult time. Love Jane and Bob Hornik, Rose Marie's neighbors.
