Maureen E. Gunderson, 78, of Hermantown, passed away on Wednesday August 7, 2024, in Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born in York, England on August 31, 1945, to Melvin and Ivy Borin. She grew up on a farm in Cloquet, MN and met her future husband in Cloquet where she married Paul Gunderson on September 17, 1966. Maureen had worked as an administrative assistant at the UMD Theater Department. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and church choir, a women’s golf league and a women’s card club. Maureen enjoyed traveling, time spent at the cabin with family and friends, and she was always available to watch her children or grandchildren’s activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Paul.
She is survived by her children Jean (Greg) Olson, and Jeff (Wendy) Gunderson, grandchildren Skylar (Eric), Zachary, Hope, Ashley, and McKenzie, brother Wayne (Debby) Borin, sisters JoAnn (George) Mitchell, Jennie (Peter) Boedigheimer, and Marianne (Roland) Hoffman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 14th, 2024, from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service in Holy Cross Lutheran Church. 410 N. Arlington Ave. Duluth, MN 55811. Entombment will be in Sunrise Memorial Park. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805.
