Maureen J. Guthrie

Maureen J. Guthrie, age 92, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025. She was born December 10, 1933, in Muskegon to Ansel and Ethelyn (Larsen) Corey. Maureen graduated from Muskegon High School and worked in the customer service and insurance department at Sealed Power for 22 years before retiring in 1988. After her retirement, she was employed by Jack Franklin Organs and Piano and later by Independent Bank. She was a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and most recently attended Shores Community Church. Maureen was a member of the Viking Linne Lodge #57, enjoyed traveling, reading, bowling, and trips to the casino. On April 2, 1977, she married James L. Guthrie in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on September 27, 2007. SURVIVORS include her children, Dan (Lori) Carlson of Norton Shores and Patti (Jim Aylworth) Meier of North Muskegon; four grandchildren, Jared (Michaela), Joshua (Kasey), Jacob (Tara), and Jonathon (Brooke) Meier; seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister and brother-in-law, Joanne (William) Hall. A memorial service for Maureen will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100, with Pastor Tom Siefert officiating. She will be laid to rest in Mona View Cemetery.
