Maureen A. Hilferty, 94, of Glenolden, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025.
She was born September 5, 1931, in Wallasey, Birkenhead County, United Kingdom, a daughter of the late John and Audrey (Gamet) Moore.
Maureen was a very strong presence with a sharp wit and devastating sense of humor. She was a true Momma bear when it came to her kids. She was the most thoughtful, caring, loving and protective of mothers, with the Queen comforter when we hurt and the proudest cheer leader in our achievements.
She is survived by seven children; Alan Hilferty, Lynn Davis, Edward Hilferty, Michael Hilferty, Andrew Hilferty, Maryanne Riggio and Joseph (Ann) Hilferty; a son in law, Joseph Shaffer; nine grandchildren, Cathy, Marie, Michelle, Michael, Michael, Phillip, Adam, Robert and Joey and three great grandchildren, Brennan, Savannah and Autumn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hilferty, Sr.; a daughter, Maureen Shaffer; two sons-in-law, Larry Davis and Nick Riggio; daughters-in-law, Martha Hilferty and Sandy Hilferty, and one sister, Bette Hartley.
Friends and relatives are invited to her viewing on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, from 10-10:45 AM in St. Gabriel Church, Mohawk Ave., Norwood, where Mass will be at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Ss Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
The Hilferty Family would like to thank the hospital, rehab, palliative care and hospice doctors and nurses for taking such excellent care of our beloved Mom.
