Maureen Klaudt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kinzley Funeral Home - Salem on Aug. 26, 2025.
Maureen A. Klaudt, 61, of Montrose passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Monday, August 25, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Montrose. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm with a 7 pm rosary and prayer service on Friday, August 29, 2025 also at the church in Montrose.

Maureen Strohfus was born October 21, 1963 in Watertown, SD to Robert and Jean (Corrigan) Strohfus. She graduated from Henry High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from SDSU. On May 25, 1991, she happily married her life partner, Paul Klaudt. With this beautiful union, they were blessed with two children, Laura and Michael. Together, they built their life in the Montrose community, being blessed with many happy memories.

Maureen was known for her warm and welcoming heart, selfless acts, commitment to serve others, and heartfelt conversations. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where she devoted her time of service to Altar Society, teaching religious education, and other church events. Her faith was strong and led her to peace in her final days.

Maureen found secondary family within the Montrose Community and her 37 years of work for the SD Department of Labor and Regulation. She will be remembered for her sincerity, genuine heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Maureen enjoyed baking for others, family gatherings, golfing with Paul, lunch with friends, and attending various community events for those she loved.

Maureen's greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren. She went above and beyond to ensure love and safety was always felt in her home. Her family will remember all the hugs, personal notes, and handpicked Christmas ornaments she chose to celebrate accomplishments and memories throughout each year.

She is survived by: her husband, Paul of Montrose; children, Laura (Robert) Hoiten of Salem and Michael (Abbey) Klaudt of Madison; grandchildren, Jace, Maryn, Dorothy and one on the way in October; siblings, Diane Strohfus of CA and Dave (Michelle) Strohfus of CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Strohfus and in-laws, Melvin and Dorothy Klaudt.
