Maureen A. (Costello) Lydon, 80, of Bellingham MA passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Lydon.
Born and raised in Westwood MA, she was the daughter of the late Mary J. Costello.
She leaves behind her children: Cindy Lydon and her fiancé Otto Garcia of Fremont, NC; Judi Lydon-Ruby and her husband, Daniel, of Bellingham, MA; and William Lydon Jr. of Bellingham, MA; her beloved grandchildren: Megan Boulanger, Ryan Boulanger, Zachary Ruby, Joshua Ruby and Brittany Lydon and her cat, "Baby". She is also survived by her favorite sister, Eileen Vinson of Plainville, MA.
She served as the family matriarch and was always there for her children, grandchildren, sister, and many friends, offering advice (she always knew best), encouragement, a listening ear, a warm hug or a shoulder to cry on. She was a kind, caring and selfless person and never met a stranger.
Prior to retirement, Maureen worked for the Bayer Diagnostics/Siemens Corporation in the sample bank, running immunoassays. In later years, she devoted time to caring for the elderly, as a part-time companion, and she made lasting friendships with their families along the way. Over the last few years, she enjoyed her time meeting up with good friends and her sister at the Franklin Senior Center for Pokeno, Bingo or special events.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at the Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA, date and time to be announced in the coming days.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Maureen to the Friends of Franklin Elders - FOFE, Inc., to benefit programs at the senior center, 10 Daniel McCahill Street, Franklin, MA
