Maureen Pirrone Obituary

Pirrone, Maureen D.

May 16, 2024

of Lockport, NY passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her own home on May 16, 2024. Born July 20, 1948 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of James V. and Mary (Ammerman) Doody. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased recently by her husband of 53 years, Joseph S. Pirrone. Maureen proudly served her Lockport community as Confidential Secretary to the Mayor of the City of Lockport for multiple terms and as an Administrative and Financial Assistant for the Lockport City School District, Office of Special Education until her retirement in July 2020. Maureen also served as a member of both the Lockport and Niagara County Democratic Committees. She represented her deep Irish heritage by being a proud and long-standing member of the Lockport Division of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and embodied their motto Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity. Maureen enjoyed any opportunity to listen to Irish music and loved going to Irish festivals and attended the Niagara County Celtic Festival almost every year. Maureen is survived by her five children that she loved more than anything in the world: Michael (Michele Mollise) Pirrone of Decatur, GA; Jeffrey (Annie Todd) Pirrone of Buffalo, NY; Timothy (Eizabeth Riggie) Pirrone of Charlotte, NC; Maura (Andrew) Failinger of North Tonawanda, NY and Sara (Michael) Bayerl of Irondequoit, NY. She is also survived by her twelve cherished grandchildren who were the light of her life and made her so very proud: Beau (née Shaeleigh), Madison (John Jebb), Trinity, and Clay (née Colbey) Pirrone; Willem, Caroline (Fin), MaryClaire, and Olivia Pirrone; Isabelle and Evelyn Pirrone and Jack and Catherine Bayerl. Maureen was predeceased by her brothers James, Mark, and John Doody and is survived by her sisters Joanne (Kevin) Bechtloff, Marcia (Dennis) Burns, and her brother, Jeffrey Doody in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Blessed Trinity Church at 317 Leroy Avenue, Buffalo at 10am on June 5, 2024. Inurnment for both Maureen and Joseph will directly follow in White Chapel Memorial Park in Amherst, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Maureen's name to Catholic Charities (https://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/). I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Maureen. When we first moved into the Pine St Neighborhood she welcomed us with open arms. Maureen also invited us to her ( and Joe´s) Christmas party where she introduced us to several people who lived there. She was a pillar of kindness and generosity in her neighborhood, and her presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her. My heartfelt condolences go out to her five children, grandchildren, friends, and relatives during this difficult time. May her deep Irish heritage and devout Catholic faith bring comfort and strength to all who mourn her loss. Rest in peace Maureen
