Maurice Willis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Granby Chapel on Jan. 3, 2026.
Maurice Clay Willis, who was called Reese by most people and Reese Cake by his mom, was born May 14, 1962, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Columbus Willis and Estell Brown. He peacefully departed from us on December 25, 2025. He was predeceased by his sister, Rosalind Price.

Maurice graduated from Maury High School in 1980. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served three years, receiving an honorable discharge. After leaving the army, he started his mission in food service. He managed many establishments, including Piccadilly's, Wendy's, Domino's Pizza, and Sbarro's. Maurice also sang with the gospel group. His passions were fishing and truck driving. He loved his profession as a Long-Distance Trucker, and he drove until his health didn't allow it any longer. When he was driving trucks, he was very happy to experience all the different places across the United States that he was able to visit. He would say he would be in one state, and it would be snowing, and the next day he was in another state, it was sunny, and he really enjoyed that. Maurice was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and watched them every chance he had.

Maurice loved his family. He especially loved hanging out with his nieces and his children. He loved being able to help take care of his brother and his mother. He looked forward to the future and always tried to accomplish new things, all the way up to later in life when he learned to drive an 18-Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Willis; two children, Loretta and Monte; a loving mother, Estelle Brown; a brother, Calvin Mackey (Stephanie); and a brother-in-law, Shelton Price.

Maurice also leaves behind two nieces, Raven Hudley and Ariana Mackey; three nephews, Shelton Price Jr (PJ), Calvin Mackey Jr (CJ), and Isaac Mackey; and a host of cousins and friends. WE WILL MISS YOU DEARLY!
