Funeral services for Mavis L. Broome will be conducted at 11:00 Saturday morning, December 16, 2023, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Anderson-Sullivan Cemetery, at Bethel Baptist Church, Bassfield, MS. Rev. Everette Broome will officiate. Mavis, age 88, passed away, December 14, 2023, in Jackson, MS. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning, December 16,2023 beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
Serving as Pallbearers are Kary Broome, Sammy Broom, Kyle Broome, Richard Broome, Shelton Broome and Curtis Pace.
Mavis L. Broome was born on December 26, 1934, in Jefferson Davis County, MS to Virgil and Leao Broom Broome.
After retirement from the Mississippi Parks Commission, she was a dedicated volunteer at Merit Health Rankin for over 25 years. She loved her job and the people there. She was an avid sports fan, a veracious reader, loved music and traveling.
Mavis was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church, Brandon, MS and her devout faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a wonderful sister and aunt and will be greatly missed by those who loved her dearly.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Leao Broome, brothers, Royce Broome and Ralph Broome and niece, Teresa Duncan.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her sisters, Barbara Gore of Pearl and Debbie Broom (Charlie) of Bassfield; nephews William Broome, Jason Broome and Richard Broome; niece, Anita Johnson.
