Mawatie Ramrattan

Our dear mother Mawatie (Betty) Ramrattan sadly passed away on Wednesday January 25, 2023, at the age of 76. She was a caring mother who was always there when her loved ones needed her. Born in 55 Village, Berbice, Guyana on October 3, 1946, she was the youngest of eight siblings, and the only daughter.
Our mother was a go-getter, with a yearning to see the world, and that is exactly what she did. From England to Turkey and the Ganges to Hawaii, she shared her love of travel with her kids and grandkids. She was a self-sufficient and independent woman, living in the big City. Mom was a strong devotee, and had a voice unlike any other. Always looked upon to sing for any occasion, we will miss her harmonious voice, and keep it in our memories.
She migrated to America in the 1980's forging many valuable and lifetime friendships. Mom was a well-loved member of the community and Mandirs in both the Bronx, NY where she spent a majority of her time as well as Schenectady, NY in her later years.
Mom's legacy lives on with her children, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, grand sons-in-law and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, and a great many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mom loved life, and lived it to the fullest. Her spirit was contagious, and she was resilient. She persevered through the many challenges life threw her way with grace and candor. Mom brought joy, happiness and melody to those she encountered, and will be forever missed.
