We met more than a few times in the late 1970's and early 1980's as he came into the office to carry out business. Always wore sunglasses but never shunned anybody who recognised him, and treated whoever of us with whom he transacted with respect. Never had anything but a good word to say, no airs or graces, and was always a cool friendly gentleman. I think he liked the fact that he could be treated just like another bloke, but with a warmness... and we were just ordinary folk but he knew us all by our first names. There were few like him, and there are fewer like him today, 8 years or so later. It's our loss, with only fond memories left.

Max will be greatly missed by so many who knew and loved him dearly. The Bible offers much comfort during our grieving, one very encouraging one is found in the book of (Jeremiah 29:11-13) May all of you find peace and comfort at this most difficult time.

Beyond the memories of Max in England I was working at GBC-TV in Gibraltar and bumped into Max and Eric Sykes on Main Street. I asked them if they would appear in our live entertainment show that evening and they agreed. It was truly live in 1964 and they were superb with there comedy ad libs and singing. I now live in Pittsburgh, PA. USA and still cherish the B&W photos taken in the studio that evening. A unique and beautiful memory. God bless Max and his family.
