Max C. Martinez, age 76, a resident of Rio Chama, NM, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary E. Martinez; his father Roman Martinez; his brother Billy L. Martinez; his granddaughter Gianna Martinez; His brother Joseph F. Martinez; his brother Larry A. Martinez.
Max C. Martinez was born on February 2, 1948, in Velarde, NM.
He is survived by his wife for over 54 years Irene L. Martinez, 6 children Lori West (Mike), Julie Dominguez (Juan), Kimberly Romero (Mathew), Max Martinez, Roman Martinez (Mariquita), Jennie Martinez. He is also survived by his sisters Romie Crespin, Berlinda Ortiz and brother Pablo Martinez; 14 grandchildren Shantel, Kayla, Austin, Brandon, Krisalynn, Cameron, Isaiah, Natalie, Aaliyah, Allyson, Justin, Orion, Noah and Shelby; 4 great-grandchildren Ayden, Kaidyn, Abigail, Azariyah and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Max will always be remembered for the love he had for his family. Every time they would say good-bye he always said "it's never good-bye, it's always see you later". He was a well known mechanic in his community and he had great love for building fast cars and being outdoors fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed taking all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for walks to the river. He will be deeply missed.
A public visitation will take place on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 5:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and a rosary to follow at 6:00 pm. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:30 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, NM, and burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his 6 children and Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-laws and daughter-in law.
