The Rev. Max Masters, age 98, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Evergreen Health Care in Montpelier. He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Waldron, to Roscoe and Dorothy (Eidenier) Masters. Max married Laura (Frisbie) Beal on March 28, 1975, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 2011.
Max graduated from Waldron High School and began his career working on his family farm in Waldron. He went on to attend seminary and later was appointed Reverend at Bird Lake Wesleyan Missionary Church where he proudly served as lead pastor for over 54 years. During his time of ministry at the church, he also served as an administrator for the Bird Lake Bible School. Max was a devout Christian, a skilled woodworker and avid fisherman.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha (Jim) Rediger; stepgrandchildren, Todd Beal, Ryan (Kimberly) Beal and Brian (Joy) Rediger; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Parker Beal and Brianna, Eli, Brooklyn, Sofia and Daniella Rediger; and stepdaughter-in-law, Diane Beal.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Laura and Maxine; stepdaughter, Ellen Beal; stepson, Norman Beal; and brother, Grant (Lois) Masters.
Funeral services for the Rev. Max Masters will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Bird Lake Wesleyan Missionary Church in Osseo with the Rev. Don Walden officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom Township. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bird Lake Wesleyan Missionary Church.

Max was a wonderful man of God, he was both of ours pastor sense we were very young and a good friend most all our lives, we are truly going to miss him, but happy he is now where he's been longing to go, ( with JESUS)
