Max Theodore Rumold, age 67, of Hope, Kansas passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center. Max was born in Abilene, KS on December 13, 1957, as the youngest of three children born to Theodore and Hilda Rumold. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Herington, KS, where he was also later confirmed on April 4, 1971.

Max attended Rural Vista School in Hope, KS and graduated in 1975. Following graduation, he attended Salina Vocational Technical School where he earned an Auto Mechanic Certificate in 1977. These skills assisted him while working on the farm and other employments including a utility worker for Kansas State University, a technician at Sapp Bros Service Center, and as a light and heavy wheeled mechanic at Accent Controls at Fort Riley.

Max and his dad, Ted, operated Rumold Farms until Ted's passing in 1990, at which time Max continued the operation. Other agricultural positions included veterinary assistant, livestock handler for the Salina Farmers and Ranchers Commission Co., as well as assisting local farmers as needed.

Max served on the Ashton Cemetery Board for many years. He was an individual who would pause his own work responsibilities to assist others with various tasks. He will be remembered as a very giving person who enjoyed a good time.

Max was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Hilda (Hain) Rumold; his paternal grandparents George & Emma (Glueck) Rumold; his maternal grandparents William and Anna (Kubsch) Hain of Germany; Aunts and Uncles: Hermina (Rumold) and Ralph Waddell of Missouri; and many others in Germany.

Max is survived by his siblings: Erick Rumold of Englewood, FL and Karin (Gordon) Rasmussen of Colby, KS; five nieces and nephews: Risa (Kelly) Overmiller of Smith Center, KS; Renata Rumold of Greeley, CO; Kurt (Lindsay) Rumold of Lubbock, TX; Janessa (Ross) Volkmer of Goodland, KS; and Kalen Rasmussen of Golden, CO; and seven great nieces and nephews: Reid and Krisa Overmiller of Smith Center, KS; Breck and Aspen Rumold of Lubbock, TX; and Nora, Banks and Bishop Volkmer of Goodland, KS.

A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Monday, September 29, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Herington, KS. Interment will be at Ashton Cemetery, Hope, KS. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Hope Annex. Memorials are suggested to the St. John's Lutheran Church in care of Martin Becker Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd St, Abilene, KS 67410.
