Maxine Bell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Central & Worley Mortuary - Lumberton on Dec. 11, 2025.
It's with sadness and sorrow we officially announce the transition of Ms. Maxine Blount Bell 73 of Lumberton. She transitioned from time to eternal peace on December 9, 2025.

Maxine Blount Bell, fondly known to many of us as "Maxie" was the daughter of the late Mr. Hubert and Mrs. Ora Blount. She was born August 8, 1952, in Robeson County, Lumberton, NC, and departed life on 12/09/2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Maxine was the 5th child of 10 children and was a very vibrant child.

Maxine attended school in Lumberton and received her GED from Robeson Community College in 1985. Maxine worked at several factory jobs with Jensen being her last place of employment.

Maxine was blessed with 2 beautiful children prior to her marriage to the late John Willie Bell who loved her dearly; and out of that beautiful union 5 loving children were born.

Although sick for the last 2 years, Maxine was a fighter. She loved life and her family; always happy and a joy to be around. She will forever be and live in our hearts. We will wait until our Lord Jesus, as he did with Lazarus that fell asleep in death, hear the call "Maxine" come out… and she too wakes up from her death state, no more sickness, no more pain. Rev. 21: 3,4.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Hubert and Mrs. Ora Blount, husband, John Willie Bell, two brothers, Robert (Bobby) Blount and Donald Blount. Her first child, Terrence Lamont Blount and granddaughter, Kierra LaShay Bell (Keke) that she loved as her own child.

She leaves to cherish her life with fond memories and sad broken hearts: two sons, John Blount (Jessie) of Bladenboro, NC and Tiawan Bell of Lumberton. Four daughters: Selena Blount, Joanie Underwood (Cornell), Stephanie Blount, and Angienora McNair; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was blessed to with a special great grandchild, Mikayah Bell she named Ladybug, that give her a purpose in life and loved so much. She also leaves behind three brothers: John Blount (Betty), James Blount, Larry Blount of Lumberton and four sisters: Brenda Williams, Houston, Texas, Peggy Gilliard (Sherman), Sylvia Hill of Lumberton and Ruby Zeigler (Eric) of Greensboro, NC. She leaves behind 5 sister in laws, 2 brother in laws, and a special friend, Mr. Nickie Love. She also leaves behind a host of family and friends that loved and will miss her dearly.
