Maxine Joy (Knight) McBee, 82, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1943, to the late Earnest Franklin Knight and Alice Dorothy Knight. Maxine was preceded in death by her son, Terry Benton; daughter-in-law, Becky Benton; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Edith Knight; brother-in-law, Hilburn Smith; nephew, Shane Smith; sister-in-law, Maybell Knight; and brother-in-law, Henry Bolen.
Maxine retired from World Carpets/ Mohawk Industries after 35 years of faithful service. She was a member of New Town Baptist Church.
Maxine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Judy Benton, Calvin and Candi Benton; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Steven Brookshire; brother, Alfred Knight; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirlene Smith, Linda and Billy Brown, Betty Bolen, Janie and Steve Thomas; grandchildren, Dereck (Savannah) Corn, Dustin (Misty) Corn, Andrew (Ariel) Benton, Kara (Ryne) Payne, Tyler (Nick) Roe, Bret Benton, Grace (Josh) Holcomb, David (Krista)Roberts; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Corn, Kelcie Corn, Urijah Corn, Ella Rose Benton, Rylan Benton, Cooper Roe, Mason Roe, Beckett Butler, Baylor Payne, Karter Payne, Knolan Adkins, Wade Grogan, Willow Holcomb, Hollis Holcomb, and Lyla Blackmon
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dustin Corn, Andrew Benton, Bret Benton, David Roberts, Tony Silvers, and Nick Roe.
