Maxine Irene Schopfer, age 77, of Collinsville, IL, born June 25, 1947 in Alameda, CA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Maxine was a stay-at-home mom. She raised her sons and was also a caregiver for her mom, dad and stepdad. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, and keeping a nice, loving home for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Alford and Zelda (Vinyard) James; her husband, Werner E. Schopfer, Jr.; her son, Manuel Lizarde III; a brother, William "Billy" James; two sisters: Seville Conner and Shirley Turner; and stepfather, Albert Rodrigues.
She is survived by a son, Werner E. (Jaime) Schopfer III; two grandchildren: Jerralyn (John) Bailey and Jacquelyn (Andrew) Pettit; two great-grandchildren: Adrianna Pettit and Noah Bailey; and a brother, Vernon (Cristina) Rodrigues.
Maxine's wishes were to be cremated, and a private graveside service will be held.
