Maxine Warren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Weber & Rodney Funeral Home on Mar. 29, 2026.
Maxine Warren, 67, transitioned on March 22, 2026, after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. A devoted mother, patriot, and beloved matriarch, Maxine poured boundless energy and compassion into every role she held.

Born in Bakersfield California, raised in Midland Texas, Maxine came of age in Idabel Oklahoma. Maxine married and had her first child, a son, in 1974. As a teenager she became a wife and mother although despite leaving high school to raise her family, she never stopped pursuing growth. She earned her GED, welcomed four more children, and at 26 enlisted in the United States Air Force. Her military career began in 1984 that would lead to many relocations, deployments and assignments in support of war and peace missions. Maxine embodied the Air Force principles of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do for her country for 3 decades, both in and out of uniform. Prior to retiring from her military career Maxine had already enacted her plan for her next professional chapter, becoming a certified realtor, culminating in earning top-sales honors within her first year at Century 21. Ultimately, her country's mission captivated her spirit and she re-engaged on a public service journey as a civilian federal employee. Leveraging her expertise in air transportation and logistics, Maxine served the U.S. mission by providing diplomatic clearances for both civilian and military flight missions for over 10 years. When forced to medically retire from federal service, Maxine never missed a step and fully embraced life's next chapter as Nana, pouring herself fully into her grandchildren. Often relocating across the country in order to be closer to her family, Maxine found immense joy in sharing her love with family and friends.

Maxine is survived by her son Harold E. Andrews of Vacaville, CA; daughter LeAndria T. Harper (nee Andrews) spouse Michael Harper Jr. of Plainfield, IL; sons Byron J. Lewis spouse Ashley Lewis of Edwardsville, IL; and Rodney Moss III of Schertz, TX. She is preceded in death by daughters RaeShonda Huddleston (nee Bible) and Precious Lewis.

Maxine loved deeply those she considered her Tribe, for which she would selflessly choose personal sacrifice in order to provide for those she felt were in need. Always the life of the party, Maxine enjoyed most, getting family and friends together for great food, even better music (so long as it was the Blues) and orchestrating impromptu talent shows, often with cash prizes, for the kids. In finding time for herself Maxine would find joy in Bingo Halls or Casinos, rooting on family members at their sporting events, or jubilantly shouting "How Bout Dem Cowboys" on Sundays in the fall.

Maxine is survived by her mother Betty Johnston, brothers Alan Warren, Leonard Raynor Jr., Milton Raynor, Bobby Raynor, Danny Raynor, Willie Raynor, Kimberly Davis (nee Wadell), and Harold Waddell. Maxine is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved so very dearly. Maxine is preceded in death by her father Francis Warren, dad Leonard Raynor Sr. and sister Francine Warren.

Before her passing Maxine elected to be cremated and to have her ashes spread in her favorite place, Lake Tahoe, CA. Her surviving children wish to still bring her home to Idabel, Oklahoma this summer for everyone she made an impact on to celebrate her life in the way she desired with great food, better music, and the best time. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you pour your love into your Tribe, even if it comes with personal sacrifice, as a form of honoring her life.
