Maya Waby, age 17, of Milaca, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 1 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Milaca. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Maya Marie Waby was born February 19, 2007 in Crosby, MN.  As a young girl, she had a bubbly joy for everything in life. She loved summertime, fishing when the sunfish were biting and she would never miss a fish fry anytime of year.

Maya had a strong dedication to dance.  She participated in Just For Kix for eight years before moving on to archery.  She got her first job as a sandwich artist at Subway at the age of fifteen and she later worked at Erberts and Gerberts in Princeton.  She quickly developed an impressive work ethic and was planning to pursue a career in radiology.

Maya had many passions including floral design, which was her favorite class.  She enjoyed baking sweets, as well as eating them.  Maya made the best cakes.  She took delight in making art and painting.

She had a heart of gold that loved to see everyone happy.  Her free spirit made her shine and glow every time she smiled.

Maya was able to surround herself with many great friends including her boyfriend, Hunter.  They loved their time together telling stories, listening to music and enjoying each others company – even in car trunks and parking lots.

She was very shy until she got to know you, at which point she would open up and leave a joyful impression on all souls who where lucky enough to know her.

Maya is survived by her mom, Briana (Jake) Walther;  dad, David (Faith) Waby;  brothers, Austin Walther, Brayden Waby, Reese Molby and Judah Wermers;  grandparents, Gary Knudson, Lisa Wood, Steve Walther, Jessica Walther, Lori Waby, Jeff Chambers, Barbara Molby and John Franzen;  also by many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-grandparents, other relatives and friends.

Maya was preceded in death by her boyfriend, Hunter Schwanke;  uncle “Woody” Greg Wood;  grandpa Rob Waby;  great-grandparents, Richard Waby, James Wood, Loretta and Bob Knutson, Sharon and Arnold Walther, Clarence Taatjes, Fred Steuck and MaryAnn Lawin.
