Maydell Lorraine Dolva

Maydell Lorraine Dolva, age 96, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, at Hospice (HIA) Heather’s House in Fargo, ND. Maydell Lorraine Nelson was born in rural Hawley on May 7, 1929, to Carl and Mildred (Olson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Hegland Lutheran Church and attended country school.

On June 10, 1951, Maydell married Harold Dolva, the love of her life, in San Diego, CA. Together they built a beautiful life, filled with love and cherished memories. Maydell’s life was dedicated to serving others, and she spent many years working at OK Diner/CJ’s Café. After retiring, she continued to work at Hawley Golf Club for 27 years, where she was well-loved for her famous Grandma Bars and her kind heart.

Maydell’s greatest passion was caring for others. She found joy in serving people, whether through her work or cooking. Her warm smile and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.

Maydell is survived by her daughters Karen Gula and Terri (Todd) Amann; her grandchildren Jamie Cossette, Lauren Gula, Logan Amann, and Audrey Gula; her great-grandchildren Trayton (Sydney) Cossette, Cade Cossette, Asher Schenck, and Knox Schenck; and her great-great-grandchildren Brixton and Haven Cossette. Maydell also leaves behind her sister, Beverly Myhre.

Maydell was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her son Dennis, her infant children Jeffery and Kathryn, her parents Carl and Mildred Nelson, and her sister Carol Stordahl.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice (HIA) or HERT (Hawley Emergency Response Team) in memory of Maydell.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN. Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery at a later date.
