Maynard Brooks Ellis, Jr, 80, passed away on July 6, 2023, at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, after a long battle with leukemia. He was born on June 26,1943 in Salem, Massachusetts, to Maynard Brooks Ellis, Sr. and Stacia (Collins) Ellis.

Maynard grew up in Salem, Massachusetts. He graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Massachusetts in 1961. After high school he attended college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he received a degree in Economics. After graduating he moved to Chicago, Illinois and had several jobs including the Chicago Transit Authority for many years.  In 1982 he moved with his family to Arlington, Texas, where he worked for ARCO Oil. In 1986 he began working for Parkland Hospital in Information Systems and Data Processing until retiring in 2003. After retirement he enjoyed traveling Europe, Canada, and across the US with his wife.

Maynard married Carole (Galbavy) in 1981 in Chicago, Illinois. They were happily married for 42 years. In 1982 their daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) was born. Maynard was a member of the Parkland Employee Retirees Board, Shriners Fraternal Organization and attended St. Peter and St. Paul Anglican Church in Arlington, Texas.  He enjoyed watching all of his Boston teams (Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots), traveling, going to the movies, watching history documentaries and reading. He loved learning and always had a variety of knowledge to bring to any conversation. He always took pride in working for Parkland Hospital and had a great interest in the medical field, new medical technologies and advances. He chose UT Southwestern for his cancer and medical care and was always willing and excited to participate in any medical trial.  His favorite activity of all was to spend time with his grandchildren watching movies, playing cards or games and watching them play.

Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard Brooks Ellis, Sr. and Stacia Klinos; brother, Arthur Gagnon; and sister, Maryanne (Klinos) Voci.

Maynard is survived by his spouse, Carole of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Cynthia (Stephen) Mate, of Euless, Texas; brother, Paul Gagnon of Salem, Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Joyce (Theodore) Callis of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Chelsea and Carson Mate; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives that loved him.
