Mazelle Arrowood Parton

Mazelle Arrowood Parton, 88, of Hayesville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025.
She was born in Hiawassee, Ga. to the late Elisha and Jinnie Ferguson Arrowood. Mazelle worked mostly in manufacturing and textile plants throughout her life, but her real work was at home. Mazelle and the love of her life Clifford raised three girls, a full-time job to say the least. She was tough as nails and never let anything keep her from doing what needed to get done. She was proud of her home and always kept it spotless. She enjoyed the simple things. She loved to go "loafering" around which could entail a full day trying to find her next treasure at the flea market or store. She collected cookie jars, dolls and anything else that caught her eye. What she considered her greatest treasure was her family. She loved them fiercely and would gladly tell anybody about them. Nothing put a smile on her face more than when she talked about her grand youngins. She was quick to offer you to sit down and fix you a bite to eat. She was quick with a grin and if she was feeling like being funny she might go dancing through the house. Her start was not always easy but she never used that as an excuse to not move ahead. She knew her help came from the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Joe Parton and a brother Ross Arrowood.
She is survived by her daughters, Tonda Reynolds (Michael), Crystal Anderson (Daniel) and Kendra "Abby" Parton all of Hayesville; one sister Lula Bell Barnes, of Hiawassee; three grandchildren, Brittany Wingate (Todd), David "D.J." Boone (Molly) and Easton Parton; one great-grandchild, Madalynn Nemkovich and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 in the Townson-Rose Hayesville Chapel with Rev. Wayne Matheson officiating. Music was provided by Brandon Coker. Burial was in the Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens, Young Harris, Ga. Pallbearers were Daniel Anderson, Todd Wingate, Madalynn Nemkovich, Easton Parton, Daniel Nemkovich and Jimmy Arrowood. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Reynolds and Chris Phillips.
The family received friends from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 prior to the funeral service.
