Mazzie Kernicky

1936 - 2025

Mazzie Kernicky, 88, of Norvelt, born on Oct. 10, 1936, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at Greene Health and Rehab Center. She devoted her life to her family, community, and career with grace and dedication. Mazzie spent many years as a secretary with the Mt. Pleasant Area School District. Her career began at Norvelt Elementary, eventually leading her to serve in the administration offices, where she made a lasting impact through her professionalism and commitment. A woman of deep faith, Mazzie was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trauger. Her love for music was evident in her years as a choir member, where she shared her voice and spirit with her congregation. Mazzie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as gardening and hosting holiday meals for her family. Known as the "glue to the family," she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially Landon, whom she adored. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas; her parents; and brothers, John "Boots" and Don Carns. Mazzie leaves behind her son, Nick Kernicky, and his partner, Cindy Eisaman; her cherished grandchildren, Cassandra Hicks and husband, Jake, along with their son, Jamison; Kaitlyn Trumbetta and husband, Chris, and their daughter, Sophia; Nicholas Kernicky and his partner, Madeline Condo; Hunter Kernicky; and Landon. Per Mazzie's request, there will be no services. Professional arrangements have been entrusted to HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Greene Health and Rehab and Monarch Hospice for their compassionate care and support. Mazzie's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St Paul's Lutheran Church in Trauger.
