“And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.” ECCLESIASTES 12:8

On October 2, 2024, at 7:15pm, our beloved McKinley Paynes Jr. heard the voice of God saying come and take your rest. He answered.

He was 65. McKinley was born in New Orleans, LA on October 12, 1958, to Curlee Corey and McKinley Paynes Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age and lived a life devoted to his faith. He met and married Pattye Ellzey Paynes, and together they shared 37 years of marriage filled with love and friendship. From this union, three children were born - two sons, McKinley Paynes III and Christopher Kylounch Paynes, and one daughter, Dawn Michelle Paynes.

He was a hardworking man, employed at Clarus Manufacturing in Fort Worth TX, and a dedicated business owner of a landscaping company that he ran until his passing. Mckinley had a passion for studying and reading, which led him to further his education and become a Deacon at New Life Bible Church led by Reverend Louis Daniels in Fort Worth TX.

His favorite verse, 1st Corinthians 13: 4-5, and his favorite hymn, Amazing Grace, reflected his deep faith and love for God.

Mckinley was preceded in death by his father, Mckinley Paynes Sr, and his grandparents, Bethel W. Tutson, George Paynes, Ella Christopher Copper, and Felton Corey. Mckinley leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

He is survived by his sons McKinley Paynes III, Christopher Kylounch Paynes, as well as his daughter Dawn Paynes Lee – Heung. McKinley was blessed with 7 grandchildren who brought him endless joy: Megan Carr, Christopher Paynes Jr., Kristian Paynes, Tristan Paynes, Summer Narcisse, Eli Paynes, and Malcom Paynes. He also leaves behind his lifelong friend and mother of his children, Pattye Paynes – Jackson. His loving mother Curlee Paynes of New Orleans, La and three sisters Carolyn Nunnery of Little Elm Tx. Beverly Williams of Destrehan La. and Pamela Cherry of Mansfield Tx. His grandmother Beatrice Paynes and his loving godmother Betty Jefferson of Chicago, Il. were also significant figures in his life. His two sisters in laws Tammy Foucher and Rechelle Conerly and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. And one godchild Travis Garrus.

This is a challenging time for all of us, but we will get through this together. Let's lean on each other for strength and comfort as we navigate this journey of grief and remembrance. May his soul rest in peace.
