Obituary published on Legacy.com by C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. - Newport News on Mar. 3, 2026.
McKinley Williams, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2026. He was born March 5, 1956 in Danville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, McKinley Williams, Sr., and his mother, Louise Anderson. He was a resident of Hampton, Virginia for the last 20 years. "Mack" as he was affectionately called, worked at the Veterans Administration when he first came to Hampton. Afterwards, he worked at the Chamberlain Hotel, Peninsula Grove Apartments, and lastly, he was employed at Forest Elementary School. Mack had a beautiful personality and everyone loved him a lot. He loved going to church and attending concerts in the park. He had a passion for the homeless population and would always pray for them. He provided meals for them for six years.

Mack was a member of Compassion Community Church. He moved to North Carolina for two years and rededicated his life back to God with his step-son, baptizing him at New Hope Outreach Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

McKinley is survived by his wife, Gloria Purnell-Williams, step-father, C.B. Anderson of Hopewell, Virginia, sister, Mary Ann Williams, special sister-in-law, Theresa Briggs, daughters, Chantey Williams of Chesapeake, VA along with six other daughters, five sons, twenty-three grandchildren and great grand-children, special nephew and niece, Calvin and Tonya Williams of Stafford, Va and numerous other nieces and nephews, two grandsons, Jason Freeman and Jakar Freeman, that adored him, and his best friend, Charlie Dixon, whom he met when he first moved to Hampton, VA.

It is the desire of the Williams family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
