Mel filled in preaching at Cornerstone Presbyterian church in Columbia while we searched for a new pastor. He referred to me as "Clemson man". I appreciated his friendship, his honest preaching. I praise the Lord for his life and the thought of him sitting at the feet of Jesus makes me smile. Thank you Mel. Well done.

Terry, Craig and I were so surprised to hear of Mel's "homegoing." We cherish our memories of his wisdom, his strong faith and his contagious laughter. Our prayers are with you and your family during this time, but we are so thankful of the assurance that we will see him again in Gloryk.

Hey Terry, JR and I are so sad to hear of Mels passing. Even though we haven't seen him in awhile, he was someone we looked up to and were blessed to know him. He prayed over and dedicated JR's Law firm, among many other things! Please know we are praying for your precious family.

Terry, what a tremendous shock to learn our precious Mel has transitioned to his real home. What a legacy he has left this complicated world. He obituary is correct in that only the Lord knows what an impact he has made in the lives of men and women. I consider myself blessed to have sit under his love and training for our Lord.

I was so stressed to learn of the devastating trauma your family lived through on Christmas Eve years ago. I could not imagine the pain your family was going through until shortly thereafter to bury my 4 year old granddaughter who died in a fire. Then shortly after saying goodbye for now to my beloved John.

What joy Mel is experiencing sharing his love with that precious baby now! I believe all God´s children will very soon be with our loved ones and our Lord as the Word shares with us the quickly approaching return of Jesus.

I have been and will continue to pray for you and your family. Only a person who has had to say goodbye to their other "half" truly understands the overwhelming heartache that you are feeling.

Cling tightly to your Savior and trust His promises that you and Mel will be reunited one day eternally. God be with you

As a member of Cornerstone PCA Church in Columbia, SC, I am grateful to God for how Mel cared for us and fed us from God´s Word as an interim pastor several years ago. One of his sermons, "Principles of Peace: for Times of Doubt or Shaken Faith," based on Psalm 73:23-28, meant so much to me that I wrote Mel´s insights in my Bible and have especially cherished that scripture since.
In Christ,
