Melanie Kay Doyle, peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, March 1, 2024, after bravely battling cancer for five years.
Born on August 17, 1974, in Pahala, Hawaii, Melanie, age 49, was the beloved daughter of the late Melvin Yokoyama Sr. and Winnifred Tamondong Yokoyama. She graduated from Kau High School in 1992 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Psychology from the University of Hawaii in 1997.
Following her graduation, Melanie relocated to San Diego, California, where she began her career at the Job Corps.
In 1999, while spending time with friends in San Diego, Melanie met her soulmate, Reginald C. Doyle. Their love blossomed, leading to their marriage on March 7, 2000. Together, they were blessed with a son, Gabriel Katsumi Lee Doyle. Due to Reggie’s military service, they made their home in Gulfport, MS.
Melanie served as the office manager and bookkeeper at Thomas London PCA, PC until her health declined. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was known for her gentle nature, love for her family, and deep appreciation for her Hawaiian heritage. She found joy in beach outings and had a special fondness for animals.
Melanie was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Yokoyama Sr., in December 2023.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Reginald C. Doyle; her son, Gabriel Doyle (Taviyana Shepard); her mother, Winnifred Yokoyama of Pahala, Hawaii; her parents-in-law, Cleveland and Catherine Doyle of Tampa, Florida; her brother, Mel Jr. (Becky) Yokoyama of San Diego, California; sisters, Michelle Grellner of New York City, New York, and Melissa Yokoyama of Volcano, Hawaii; her brothers-in-law, Shawn (Christina) Doyle of Tampa, Florida, and Anthony Byron Beasley of Miami, Florida; her sisters-in-law, Crystal (Larry) Thomas of Opelika, Alabama, Latoya (Corey) Johnson of Bonaire, Georgia, and Chantal Doyle Sherrod of Sandy Springs, Georgia; special uncles, Junior (Brenda) Tamondong of Greenville, North Carolina, Gary (Sandra) Tamondong of Pahala, Hawaii, and Robert Pia of Pahoa, Hawaii; and one grandchild, Kelani Rayne Doyle. She also leaves behind numerous grieving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Rd. Gulfport, MS. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. Repast will follow at the funeral homes reception center.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
