Melanie Forsythe, 63, of St Augustine, FL, passed away on October 1, 2025, at the Community Hospice Bailey Family Center for Caring in St Augustine. Melanie was born on March 7, 1962, in Waterville, Ohio, to the late Harold and Mary (Steger) Dodson. She is survived by her husband Scott Forsythe; sisters Tammy (JB Miller), Dana (John Wiest), and Teri (Don Bouwer); her loving nieces and nephews; and her best friend Jack. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Marcin and her brothers Harold Dodson and Michael Dodson.

Melanie grew up in Bradenton, FL. She graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. She was a retired digital media and design teacher with the St. Johns Public School system. She was passionate about teaching and inspiring her students to move forward in the world, achieve their creative dreams, and make a positive difference.

Melanie was a great friend and sister who showed kindness in many ways, whether it was with her time, a meaningful gift, or a kind note, and treasured time with family and friends. She loved and completely spoiled many adopted fur babies in her lifetime. Neighbors would often see her spending time in her yard planting plants or sitting on her front deck reading a book and enjoying nature.

Melanie will be remembered for her courage, strength, and resiliency.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Johns Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserve at https://www.stjohnsbotanicalgarden.org/.

A private memorial will be held in accordance with Melanie's wishes.
