On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, Melanie Harris Martin, loving wife and mother of three, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and savior in Methodist Hospital Dallas with her husband and children by her side.

Melanie was born on October 4, 1963, in Lubbock, Texas. Her parents were Gerald and Imogene Harris. For decades, her father was a deacon, and her mother was the organist for First Baptist Church in Lubbock. She grew up in a faithful family that loved the Lord. Melanie attended Monterey High School and Texas Tech University before moving to Long Island, New York, as a flight attendant with TWA. She was a stay-at-home mom when the kids were young and later became a real estate agent and worked in both Lubbock and Austin.

Mike and Melanie were married on September 30, 1989, at First Baptist Church in Lubbock. They first met and dated in tenth grade while attending Monterey HS. Melanie and Mike had a collaborative and caring relationship. It was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. During the 1990s, they became proud parents of three entertaining, gifted and confident sons, Ryan, Reed, and Riley. Other than Lubbock, they lived in Austin, Dallas, and are currently in the US Virgin Island of St Thomas.

Melanie was passionate about life. She loved all the world around her and all of God's creations. She was an avid photographer, with many of her pictures centered around the beautiful beaches where she lived, creatures in the ocean, owls and parrots in her backyards, orchids, rainbows, and other beauties of nature. In addition, she had a love of travel and adventure and experienced the world with her TWA days and traveling with her husband and family. That passion started young as her parents encouraged her to travel and made sure she visited every state in the US during their family vacations.

She is survived by her husband Mike Martin, her three boys Ryan, Reed, and Riley Martin, her sister Tammy Jo Veale and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Gerald Waldo Harris, mother Imogene Webster Harris, and her sister Camille Harris Nutter.
