Melanie Susanne Thorn has finished her journey here on Earth and has gone home to be with the Lord. Melanie passed away suddenly on Palm Sunday, April 2nd, after complications from a long illness with her husband Mark by her side.
She was a dedicated nurse/LPN and started her nursing career at Barberton Citizens Hospital in November 1976. She worked as a nurse for more than 41 years and enjoyed taking care of people especially the elderly.
She loved spending time with her extended family and never passed an opportunity to have long visits with them. She also found great comfort in her Christian Faith and spending time with members of her church, First Baptist Church of Barberton.
She had many interests and hobbies throughout her life including sewing, crocheting, knitting, taking pictures, bird watching, reading, and had a small collection of dolls and porcelain figurines of animals with wide eyes and smiles. Melanie was also an amazing cook, dedicating much time and effort to making wonderful meals.
Her favorite thing to do was beachcombing along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Michigan especially at Indiana Dunes, State Park, Melanie's favorite place on Earth, and is near and dear to her many family members in the Indiana and Illinois region.
Dear Sweet Melanie was a very special person to her family and will be greatly missed by people that knew her. Melanie will be especially forever missed by her loving husband Mark.
She was proceeded in death by her father Edward T. Wells (Sr), brother Edward Thomas Wells (Jr.) (Tom), Mother Floy G. Wells (Greenwood), and father-in-law Patrick A. Thorn.
She is survived by her husband (of more than 44 years) Mark, sister Paula Perich (David), mother-in-law Lois Jean Thorn, sisters-in-law, Diane Wells (Tom), April Sommers (David), Sandra Rana (Gurinder), and Sharane Antonette, lifelong friend Dorothy Wright and her husband, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday April 10th from 6pm-8pm and Tuesday 11am-12pm with Service starting at 12pm at Adams Mason Funeral Home, 791 E Market St, Akron, Ohio 44305.

Melanie was a gentle spirit with a little bit of ornery. I loved the sideways glances, which spoke volumes. She was a great LPN, worker but most of all a great person. Mark, I am sorry for your loss. Prayers for your peace and comfort.
