Melba Huggins Obituary

FRANKLIN - Melba Moses Huggins, 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.
She was born in Macon County on May 23, 1939, to the late Lorenze Thomas Moses and Edna Bowman Moses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Huggins; brothers, Harry Moses, Joe Moses and infant Edgar Moses; and sisters, Virginia Corbin and Hazel Stamey.
Melba graduated from Western Carolina University with a master's in business education. She taught various business courses at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School for 31 years, making lifelong friends with students and colleagues. Melba truly loved and cared for her students. After retiring from teaching, she worked at Smoky Mountain Welcome Center for several years.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Wanda Huggins (Guy) Fouts, Carol Lee Mehta and Betty Sue Harper; brother-in-law, Mitchell Huggins; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as special friends, Lynn Dillard, Gary Hoilman and Brenda Simpson.
A private graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of one's choice.
