With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Melba Jean Jenney, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, who departed this life on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the age of 94. A resident of Corydon, Indiana, Melba was born on December 14, 1930, in New Albany, Indiana, where she cultivated a life rich in love and faith.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Landers (Mellon), her daughter Patricia Kiesler, and her four siblings. Her legacy of kindness and warmth continues through her family. Survivors include her loving daughters Phyllis Huffman (Larry) and Laurie Huber (Danny), her son-in-law, Doug Kiesler and her step-son, Perry smith and family. Her proud lineage extends to her grandchildren Wes Kiesler (Heather), Travis Kiesler (Jennie), Kellie Maupin (Danny), Amy Pickerill (Trent) Chad Melcher (Jill) and Amanda Jones (Tony), as well as eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Melba retired after many dedicated years as the head cashier at Wolf's Supermarket in New Albany. However, her professional accomplishments are outshone by her passion for people. Known affectionately as "Granny" to all, Melba provided guidance, wisdom, and love to everyone who entered her life. She treasured nothing more than gathering family and friends around the kitchen table, where coffee, laughter, and listening ears were in constant supply.
Her devotion to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life. A devoted member of Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church, Melba served passionately within her church community, sharing joy through music as part of the choir and by sharing spiritual wisdom with those around her, often quoting her favorite devotional, *Jesus Calling*.
Visitation for Melba will be held at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311,
Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Sunday, March 9th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A celebration of her life and faith will take place on Monday, March 10th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church in New Albany, IN. The family will be welcoming friends and family at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Melba's final resting place will be at the Sellersburg Cemetery
Melba Jean Jenney's life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering support for those she held dear. She leaves this world a better place, having been a devoted follower of her Heavenly Father and an ever-present Granny to those in need. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her and felt her boundless affection.
