Melba June Thomason was born January 10, 1935, and left this earth to be in her heavenly forever home on December 21, 2025. She is preceded in death by her father, Marion Lee Higgs and her mother Mimi Elsie Alberta Luna Processer Stokes Higgs. She is also preceded by her husband of 72 years Robert Maurice Thomason. She is survived by her four sons: Randy, Danny (Jequeta), Jackie, and Keith (Robin). Her grandchildren Dawn Philhart, Casey Kiel, Matthew Thomason, Karen Thomason, Samantha Bishop, and Seth Thomason survive her as the light of her life. The shining stars in her life that survive her are her great grandchildren, Gideon Kiel, June Thomason, Maggie Thomason, Amos Kiel, and Gemma Bishop.

Melba’s life began on a small farm near Lewisburg, TN, but the death of her mother at a very young age led to their relocation to a small farmhouse in Red Oak, TN. She lost her father when she was just a toddler leaving her an orphan but was quickly taken in by our Uncle Poppy and Aunt Ruth who became the only grandparents we ever knew. She grew up to be courted by our father. She was the only one approved by his sisters and the only one they would shine his shoes for. Their first years together were spent in the military in Camp Stewart, GA. Following their years there, they returned to Lincoln County where they worked as dairy farmers for 11 years until they moved to Donelson and then LaVergne while dad began a new career in construction. They returned to farming 20 years later with their last move to Leipers Fork, TN. Each move and place in time brought new challenges, opportunities, and joys, and through them all, she was always our family anchor and cheer leader.

Melba June Thomason was the epitome of an Ephesians 5 wife, Proverbs 31 woman, and a 2 Kings 2 Elisha mama bear. She balanced being a homemaker, raising 4 sons and a husband, being a preacher and elder’s wife, teaching church classes for children and ladies, and showing us all what a Christ follower looks like. Another venue of joy for her was the Leipers Fork Senior Citizens where she served as president for a brief period. She loved to sew and share life with her friends at the club making many blankets that were donated to families in need.

Melba made an indelible impact on many lives throughout her 90 years of life on this side of eternity. Her love for us and encouragement to love others like Christ stands as her greatest gift to all of us, and we aspire to be the family that carries on her legacy. Go rest high on that mountain Wooshi.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Bill Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Sparkman Cemetery. Visitation on Saturday from 4-8 PM and on Sunday after 12 Noon. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
