Mele Sovaleni-Liti Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Funeral Home of Bluffdale on Dec. 17, 2025.
On December 13, 2025, Mele Fatai Sovaleni-Liti reunited with the love's of her life, god, husband, son, parents, and many others. She continues her mission in heaven of promoting the word of god. Surrounded by her fiercely amazing children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she left this mortal life with a smile on her face. On that day, the sky danced and songs blasted uncontrollably as the heavens rejoiced and embraced her homecoming. Born April 29, 1941, the town of Fo'ui, Tonga, had no idea that a queen was born into their midst. Never had a ministers daughter, who was really a queen, been fulfilled better than by Mele. She travelled the Tongan Islands with her father, who was a minister of the Methodist faith and whose mission was to spread the word of god. It was in these travels that she caught the eye of a handsome gentleman, Paul Ma'afu Liti from Vaini, Tonga, who became her warrior and husband. Their marriage yielded an army of fierce warriors dubbed as Seini Ma'afu (Etimani Ma'afu), Kapui Ae Ofa Liti, Lopini Lisa Fine (Siaosi Fine), Latai Liti Tupou (Tevi Viliami Tupou), Tammy Marie Tauelangi ( Viliami Tauelangi), Samuela Ivan McCloud Liti (Erika Liti), Danny Paul Liti (Motusi Liti), and Priscilla Likitua Masina (Philip Masina). At the time of her departure, she had 26 loyal and fierce grandchildren who were raising 11 great grandchildren to join gods army.

Mele spent her life encouraging everyone she knew to maintain a relationship with god, to help and love one another. She fed, clothed, sheltered, financed, and supported countless family members, neighbors, friends, acquaintances, and strangers. She shared her comedic wit, laughter, wise counsel, JOY, and dance moves freely and unabashedly. Mele loved to beautifully dress herself with uniquely fierce style and vibrant colors. She always commanded a room with just her presence but drew everyone to her with her inner light. She befriended easily with her kindness and shared easily with warmth and joy. She is a devastating loss to all who love her, but rejoiced in heaven that gained a beautiful fierce disciple and warrior of god. Her body already rests in peace, while her spirit is now dancing in heaven.
