Melinda Galloway, 79, of Abilene, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 Tuesday, November 18th at Elmwood Memorial Park with David Romanik of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Melinda was born in Abilene to A.M. and Mabel Hinds on June 6, 1946. She went to school at Abilene High. She attended Texas Christian University, and graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a bachelor of science degree in education. She married Paul R. "Joe" Galloway Jr. on October 17, 1967. She worked as a teacher for Abilene Independent School district. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Heavenly Rest.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, A.M. and Mabel Hinds, and her son, Brandt Austin Hinds Galloway.
Survivors include her sons, Bryson Austin Hinds Galloway and his wife Tami, Terry Orr and his wife Rita; her daughter, Belinda Louise Shepherd and her husband Nick; her sister, Molly Hinds; 8 grandchildren, Terrance, Zachary, Nicholas and Christopher Orr, Ty Austin and Blake Thomas Galloway, and Olivia Rae and Sadie Lou Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Terrance Orr, III, Zachary Orr, II, Raegan Orr and Tyson Orr and Camilla Orr.
The family of Melinda wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Samantha Goodman, Ray and Sandy Hardin, and Jimmy Martin for years of cherished friendship and exceptional care.
