Melinda Lonette Roberts, age 55, of Ralls, TX, was welcomed to heaven by family on June 7,2025. Melinda was born on December 10, 1969, in Lubbock, TX, as the youngest daughter to Lon and Laverne (Marsh) Roberts. She graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1988 and went on to Texas A&M University, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in animal science. After graduation, she moved to Colorado briefly to work for a horse ranch, where she pursued her passion for horses, before moving back to Ralls, TX, where she spent the remainder of her years working for First Baptist Church–Ralls and Vista Bank in both Crosbyton and Ralls. Melinda was known for her passion for people and helping others from her customers at the bank to placing flags at the cemetery for Memorial Day to help honor those who had served. In her earlier adulthood, she enjoyed volunteering with First Baptist Church–Ralls as a Girls in Action (GA) leader and camp sponsor, as well as a Vacation Bible School helper. She found particular enjoyment in helping decorate for VBS and Senior Brunch at the church. She also spent several years as a Band Booster member for Ralls High School while her niece and nephew were band members, including taking trips as a sponsor numerous times. In her later years, she found particular enjoyment in expanding her love for cars and racing. Melinda was a season ticket holder for NASCAR and enjoyed spending race weekends camping at Texas Motor Speedway with family. She also traveled to other racetracks in Charlotte, NC, and Las Vegas, NV, as well as getting to meet her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, at an awards ceremony. She particularly enjoyed cheering on her favorite Hendrick drivers: Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Chase Elliott. When she was not watching NASCAR or spending time at a race, she was dedicated to her membership with Caprock Classic Car Club (CCCC), where she enjoyed showing off her large purple Ford F-250, red Ford F-150, her GMC Diablo, and her blue 1970 Mach 1 at numerous car shows across the area. In 2019, she won second place in the nation at the National El Camino Show in Arlington, TX, with her GMC Diablo. Her passion for cars started at an early age and was with her until the very end, and she loved the joy being a member of CCCC brought to others. She will be remembered for her passion to know each of her customers and their needs, as well as her creativity that was always being used behind the scenes. She will also be remembered for her love of horses, horsepower, and how much she enjoyed spoiling her niece and nephew. Melinda is survived by her sisters Mona Roberts and Michele Cook, both of Ralls; niece Natyra Roberts, husband Caleb Roberts, and their two sons, Carter and Carson; nephew Nick Cook, wife Heaven Cook, and their daughter Calliope Cook; as well as numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Lon and Laverne Roberts; grandparents Julian and Velma (Norman) Roberts; and Woodrow Wilson "Jack" and Margery (Williams) Marsh. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 21 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Ralls, TX.
The family requests honoring Melinda by wearing a NASCAR shirt or her favorite color, purple. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Senior Citizens of Ralls or Caprock Classic Car Club.
