Melissa Lynn Flanigan

Funeral services for Mrs. Melissa Flanigan will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 11 A.M. at New Hopewell Church of Medina with Rev. Steven Callicoatt officiating. A private entombment will take place in KY at a later date. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home in Medina and at the church from 10 A.M. until service time on Wednesday.

Melissa, age 54, passed away at her home in Lexington, TN on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

She was born in Mansfield, OH to Denver Ousley and Judith Johnson Ousley. She graduated from Prestonburg, KY High School, “Class of 87”,  from the University of Kentucky, “Class of 91”, and then obtained her Masters Degree from Georgetown College, KY, “Class of 2000”.  Melissa worked as a special education teacher for the Boone County Schools and Fayette County Schools in Lexington, KY.  She taught English as a second language at Grayson College in Van Alstyne, TX, for a total career of 22 years. Melissa was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington, TN where she was active in the food pantry.  She loved flowers of all kinds and gardening, but her children and family were her life. 

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Denver Ousley.

She is survived by her mother, Judith Ousley; husband, Sean Flanigan; son, Zackary McCormick; daughter, Allison Anne McCormick; sister, Beth Ousley.
