Melissa Gail Gebhardt

Melissa Gail Sloan Gebhardt 1962 - 2009 Melissa Gail Sloan Gebhardt lost her brave, eleven-month battle with pancreatic cancer at home on April 17th, 2009. She was born in Monett, Mo on December 20, 1962. She graduated from Hickman High School in 1981. She attended hairstyling school and worked at several popular salons in Columbia during her 20+ year career, most recently at Green Meadows Hair Company and Salon Nefisa. She became deeply connected with many of her patrons because of her warm, personable style. She gathered friends easily, and her community is large and loving. A memorial celebration of Melissa's life will be held at the Unity Center in Columbia on Tuesday, April 21st at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 PM at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. Her greatest joy in life was being a mom to her two young children, Luka and Willa. She will be so terribly missed by her heartbroken family and friends. Survivors include her partner of 11 years, Deb Frankenberry; her mother Betty Montie and husband Dr Joe Montie; her brother Chris Gebhardt and his wife Debbie Gebhardt, and nieces Maddy and Bella Gebhardt; and her dear friend Rhoda Baldwin and her son, Dinesh. She was preceded in death by her father Dean Sloan; her stepfather Del Gebhardt, and her grandparents. Her family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and support staff at Missouri Cancer Associates and Boone Hospital for their kind care.
