Melissa E. Hann, 54, of Moline, passed away November 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at UHIC, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday November 19, 2025, Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday November 18, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to her family for a fund to be established.
Melissa was born March 13, 1971, in Aledo, IL, the daughter of Fredrick Miller and Joyce Buckham. She was a proud graduate of Westmer Warriors class of 1989, and Western Illinois University class of 1995. Later in 1995, she met her husband Joe and married him in June of 1996. After 29 years of marriage her last words to him were “see you on the other side jerk” as it was common knowledge that she wished she had married as well as he did. She held many jobs over the years including Hardees, ESL teacher in the Moline school district, Team Lead for online digital, and a social media creator at the Elmore Walmart. However, the job she loved the most was being a proud mother of her three children and grandmother. She enjoyed history, traveling, being with family, playing with her grandchildren, and buying anything she could find on the clearance aisle even after her husband and kids asked her to stop telling them “Look at the deal I got”. She had an amazing sense of humor, often making any and all jokes or slipping into a foreign accent. Her infectious laugh would have everyone laughing even if you didn’t hear the joke.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; daughters, Kiersten (Jeff) Dunker of Mason City, IL, Kallynn Hann of Davenport, IA; son Logan Hann of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Willow and Arthur; mother, Joyce; brother, David Miller; sister, Christa Miller; mother-in-law, Darlene Hann; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Fredrick Miller, stepfather, Thomas Buckham, father-in-law, David Hann, and brother Tommy.
