ORANGE- Melissa L (Goddard) Stevens, 43, of Kelton Street, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Athol Hospital after being stricken ill.

Born in Framingham on September 1, 1982, she was the daughter of John and Catherine Goddard and graduated from Athol High School in 2000. Melissa later attended Assumption College in Worcester.

On July 16, 2005 Melissa married Kyle Stevens and they have enjoyed over 20 years of marriage and raising a family.

A para-professional at Swift River School in New Salem, Melissa had previously worked for Orange Elementary School and Almadan.

An avid reader, Melissa also enjoyed crocheting, hiking, music, learning and playing instruments with her family, as well as writing, including an unpublished book.

Melissa was very involved in the Nature's Classroom program at Swift River School and was into planning their trips.

Described by her sons as being determined, uniquely her own person, and passionate about everything she did in life, including hiking the three canyons Zion, Bryce and Grand with her father in law, son Tyler and brother in law Chris.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Kyle Stevens of Orange; their sons, Tyler, Hunter and Collin, all of Orange; her father, John Goddard of Athol; mother, Catherine Goddard of Orange; a sister, Sarah Leopaldi; a brother, Matthew Goddard; step mother, Anita Leopladi; step sister, Feli Leopaldi; step brother Florian Leopaldi; many nephews and nieces; as well as her in-laws, Ann and Frank Stevens of Athol. She is also survived by brothers in law, Nick Stevens (Shay), Matthew Stevens, and Charles Stevens; and sister in law, Reda Bernard (Chris).

Calling hours will be February 7, 2026 from 9-11 a.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on February 7, 2026 in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
