Melissa Sweeney

Melissa A. (Hartz) Sweeney, born November 22, 1966, in Nashua, NH, was sent to her eternal home on February 5, 2026. She was preceded by her mother, Pauline Hartz of Pelham, father, Edwin Hartz of Pelham, and beloved Husband, Richard Sweeney of Salem.

We ask that you remember her not for how her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Melissa was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of getting to know her.

Those who knew Melissa will remember her for her spunk, her sense of humor, unforgettable smile, and her love for cooking. She deeply valued her independence and took great pride in living life on her own terms. At the same time, she longed to be a part of a loving family, and she experienced that with Dev and Vishow's family as well as her Life Visions' Family. She experienced a sense of belonging that she always hoped for.

She deeply valued her employment throughout her career with Best Western, TJ Maxx, Community Crossroads, Goodwill, Walmart, Market Basket, and Home Sense. She was active within her community, attending Play Among the Stars, Salem Night School, visiting with local librarians, attending Life Visions' activities, trips to Hampton Beach, and playing BINGO with her friends.

We should all be inspired by the words of Melissa, "keep our heads up and our heart strong." May the angels welcome her to paradise.

Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 AM with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.
