She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband, Deacon Chris Alexander Collier of the home; two adoring sons, Christopher "CJ" Collier, Jr. and Justin Chandler Collier, both of Georgia; her siblings Alice (Myron) Alford of Columbia, SC; John Edward Walker of Manning, SC; Barbara (Marcus) Campbell of Columbia, SC; and Betty (Scipo) Smalls of Georgetown, SC.
She is also survived by her nieces Ashley Harris of Powder Springs, GA; Johnijaha Walker of Manning, SC; and Stephanie (Delin) Jackson of Lexington, SC; nephews Gregory (Danielle) Campbell of Columbia, SC; and Sterling (Yolanda) Smalls of Anderson, SC; and her "four heartbeats" - Kingston, Aniston, and Easton Harris of Powder Springs, GA, and Brooklyn Smalls of Anderson, SC.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her father-in-law, JC Willis of Jackson, GA; close friends Sakinah Jihad and Valerie Garrow; her bonus daughter, Shayla Reed of Decatur, GA; her Manning High School Class of 1984 sisters- the "Cool & Coolettes" (Cool- Melissa | the Coolettes- Doris, Gretser, Jackie, and Tawanda); the Boss Babies of New Piney Grove Baptist Church; her Ryder Trucking Company family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Specialist Gregory "Batmice" Walker.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 PM at Rainbow Park Baptist Church, 2941 Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30034.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 11 AM at New Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2580 Snapfinger Road, Decatur, GA 30034, with burial to immediately follow in Kennedy Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA 30034.

My sincere condolences to Melissa's family. I worked with Melissa at MCI Telecom. I loved her personality, sense of humor and honesty. We lost touch after I moved from Atlanta to Dallas with MCI, but often said hello to each other on FB. Sleep well Melissa.

Melissa, you will be deeply missed - not just by me, but by so many whose lives you touched. The love and impact you left behind were so evident this past Saturday. It´s clear now more than ever that your life was a beautiful preparation for eternity.
I´m grateful you came to our family reunion just a few weeks ago. Your joy was radiant, and we had such a wonderful time together. That memory will stay with me always.
I will continue to hold you close in my heart and lift Chris, CJ, Justin, and your entire family in prayer.

I am a friend of Melissa's from MCI. We worked together in Atlanta in the golden years. We worked hard and played hard. And we all went on to have families and lives separate from each other. But she was never far from mind. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
