Melissa May Winstead, age 53, passed away on November 13, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in 1971 in North Carolina, Melissa is preceded in death by her mother Glenda Diane Murr, grandfather-in-law Roland Wade Winstead, grandfather Roy Murr, and grandmother Edna Dell Murr. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jeremy Winstead; sons Darryl Lee (Shanda) Winstead, Nathaniel Ryan (Amber) Winstead, and Robert Alan (Sarah) Winstead; grandchildren Isaiah, Ryan, Zoey, Trebor, Noah, Troy, Adelynn, Azarias, Hero, Journey, Gage Murphy, Quentin Leath; one great-grandchild, Waylon; father Ronnie Murr; sister Ronda (Richie) Swiney; brother David Murr (Michelle Algre).
Melissa was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, and friend, and was known to be a "baby whisperer." She always had a smile, even when things were bad. She will be severely missed by everyone who knew her.
A Celebration of Life for Melissa will be held on December 6, 2025, at 3:30pm, Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 504 E Lincoln Rd, Alcoa, TN 37701. A graveside service will follow at Clarks Grove Cemetery.
