Mellie Ruth Simmons

Mellie Ruth Simmons was born a Brunswick County native on February 3, 1952, to the late Woodrow and Julie Ann Simmons. Ruth went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 9, 2026.

Ruth was a devoted child of God who spent her lifetime spreading the word of Christ to others.

Ruth loved her family and friends deeply. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and beloved siblings, Alene (Ray) Summersett, Irene Martin, Ed Simmons, Martin Simmons, and Curry Simmons. Ruth has many nieces, nephews, and friends she treasured. She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte DeGrange (Jay) and Heather Williams (Ryan), both of Leland; two granddaughters she cherished, Olivia Williams and Phoebe DeGrange; and her brother and sister by marriage, Mary Simmons and David Martin.

Ruth enjoyed dancing to beach music, eating oysters, and spending time with family and friends. Her presence here on earth will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Please join us to celebrate the life of Mellie Ruth Simmons. The visitation will start at 12 noon Friday, February 13, 2026 followed with services at 1 pm at Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 South 41st St., Wilmington, NC 28403.
