Obituary published on Legacy.com by Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations - La Grange on Sep. 29, 2025.
Melody Ancarrow, a beacon of love and courage, was called home by The Lord on September 23, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in Lubbock on October 25, 1951, Melody's life journey brought her to Victoria, where she peacefully passed away surrounded by the warmth of her family's love. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Ancarrow; her children, Chelsea, Nathan, and Clayton Ancarrow; grandchildren, Caleb & wife, Madison Taylor, Bailey Taylor, and Kaiya Ancarrow; great grandchildren Blake, Wells and Tate Taylor; her sister, Barbara Wright, sister-in-law Johnice Bowman; niece, Jackie, and nephews, Jacob, Brian, Bill, & Bobby. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Billie "Geri" Bowman, and her brother, Jac Bowman. Though not immediate family, her fellow workers, Ms. Dot, Carol, Oralia, Clara, Mary, Joey, Gwen, Leighann, Margaret, David, and many others, were much loved by her.
After her parents' passing, Melody became the heart and soul of Hungry Jack's; a family business that stood as a testament to her parents' legacy. She operated the business with a spirit of hospitality and continued it as a gathering place that extended beyond the confines of a mere dining establishment. Her leadership was fueled by her Christian faith, which was the cornerstone of her life.
Melody lived out her faith through service and love. Her role as Mary in the Northside Baptist Church's Christmas Pageants, with Michael as Joseph, was a cherished tradition that spoke volumes about her dedication to her community. Her love for Jesus was evident in the way she reached out to the ones less noticed, lifting them up with a generosity that knew few bounds.
An ardent soccer fan, her enthusiasm for the game was infectious. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-whether it was soaking up the sun wherever she could or delighting in the laughter of her family and friends while cooking in her kitchen. Her knack for organization made her a natural leader, one who inspired others to follow her example of living a life filled with purpose and kindness.
In remembering Melody, we are reminded of the words of Mother Teresa: "Not all of us can do great things, but we can all do small things with great love." Melody embodied this sentiment.
Friends and family will remember her as a woman of great strength and generosity. She embraced life's challenges with a loving heart and a courageous spirit. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will be a guiding light for all.
As we celebrate Melody's life, we are reminded of the impact every individual can have on the world. Through her benevolent actions and unwavering faith, she encouraged us all to look beyond ourselves and to serve with a generous heart. Melody Ancarrow's journey on earth has ended, but her spirit lives on, a testament to the power of love and the strength of faith. She is with Jesus now – totally healed and free. She would want everyone reminded of Jesus' words,
"I am The Way, and The Truth, and The Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6).
