Melody was known for her quick humor, her artistic streak, and the way she could make someone laugh when they needed it most. She loved drawing, the Smurfs, and music that she could feel in her chest, especially Eminem. Even when life was heavy, there were moments when her eyes lit up and her spirit showed through. Those who knew her well will remember that light.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Smith; her mother, Jo Anne Wicker Godfrey; her grandmother, Glenndora Johnson; and her sister, Jennifer Godfrey.
She is survived by her children, Deondre and Davontay, who remained close to her; her siblings Amanda Harris (Gregory Harris) and Timothy Wicker; and her best friend, Angel, who never stopped looking for her and holding love for her even through the distance.
Melody's memory will continue through the people who loved her in the quiet, real ways, through laughter, music, and the small things she left behind that still remind us of her.
