Melvin Cox Obituary

Davis lived his entire life in Surry. He was an avid sportsman; he loved to hunt, fish, and spend time on his farm. He was also an avid UVA sports fan. He served in the U.S. Army reserve where he earned his commendation as a sharpshooter.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert Cox and his wife, Emily; grandsons, Joseph Davis "J.D." Cox and Benjamin Dorian Cox; brother, William R. Cox and his wife, Terry.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel with Pastor Glenn Riggs officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until the service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Moore's Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moore's Swamp Baptist Church, 7365 New Design Rd., Elberon, VA 23846. Condolences may be posted at RWBakerFH.com.
