Melvin Davis, Sr., of Laneview passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Aubrey and Maggie Johnson Davis. He was owner and operator of Melvin Davis Box Company and Davis Trucking. Melvin was an avid Country and Bluegrass music fan, enjoyed tractors, El Caminos, his animals and his little dog, Kelsie and was quick with a joke and enjoyed a laugh. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Irvin, Sr., James Edward, Elwood and a nephew, Irvin Jr. and his best friend, Louis Slade.
Survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Norma Marks Davis; a brother, Eugene (Shirley); children, Melvin Davis, Jr. (Shelia), Patricia Jordan, Jovan Dunn (William), Wayne Lewis (Gayle), Billy Barrack (Janet). Grandchildren, Amanda Harrison (Johnny), Crystal Lucas (Kevin, Sr.), Michelle Jordan (Candace), Reba Anderson (Corey), Cheyenne Lewis (Brandon), his shadow, Paiton Dunn. Great grandchildren, Chesley, Nyasia, Levantre, Kevin, Jr., Kayden, Theodore, Lucas, Dalton, Bentley, Addyson. Nieces, nephews and best friend, Debbie Slade-Woodward.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 16, 2024 in Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Rappahannock Christian Church Cemetery, Dunnsville.
