Melvin C Downs

Melvin Charles Downs, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully in his sleep on January 12, 2024, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He was surrounded by his family.
Melvin was born on March 1, 1956, in Wayne, Nebraska, to Donna Lee Roland and Charles Noah Downs. His life was filled with passion, dedication, and a love for his boys.
Melvin was a graduate of Omaha North High School. In his younger years, he had a love for hockey and ice skating. This passion for sports was a constant throughout his life, where he enjoyed golf, pool, and archery. During his working years, Melvin's craftsmanship and skill with his hands helped him launch careers in carpentry, drywall, and welding.
Preceded in death by his parents, Donna and Charles, and his sister, Carol Brown, Melvin's legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Kathy; the mother of his children, Debbie Downs; his boys, J.R., Eric, Josh (and wife Patricia), Dan (and wife Nicole), and Clint Downs; his nephews, Chad and Justin Brown; his grandchildren, Kimberly and Ryley Marcum; and Elias and August Downs; and his cat, Max.
Those who knew Melvin will remember him as fearless, fiercely protective of his loved ones, and full of life. He will be remembered fondly and missed eternally. A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on January 29, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 7909 Mormon Bridge Road, at 11 a.m.
